Kalpa
Privacy & your data
Effective October 24, 2026. Kalpa is published by Aftershock Labs.
In short: Kalpa has no accounts, ads, analytics or third-party SDKs. Its calculations run on your device, and the app sends nothing to us. Data leaves your device only when it goes to Apple: when you search for a city, use your current location or make a purchase.
What stays on your device
- Your place: its name, coordinates, altitude and time zone, saved in the app's preferences so Kalpa can calculate offline.
- Profile: an optional name, used only to greet you in Profile and never in shared text or widgets, plus your appearance and animation settings.
- Widgets: the place name, time zone and calculated times are shared with Kalpa's widget through an on-device App Group. Coordinates and notes are not.
- Planner: each plan's title, notes, date, city (name, coordinates and time zone) and optional reminder time, in a protected file in Kalpa's storage on the device. There is no cloud sync.
- Reminder settings: your daily reminder time and whether it's on.
Like other app data, these may be included in your iCloud or computer backups.
Location and Apple Maps
Location is optional. You can pick a suggested city without granting location access or going online. If you tap Use current location, iOS asks for permission, and Apple Maps receives your coordinates to name the place and find its time zone. If you search for a city, Apple Maps receives your search text. Apple handles these requests under its own privacy policy. Kalpa asks for your location only when you tap Use current location, never in the background, and does not change your city when you travel.
Purchases
The Planner purchase, its free trial and restores go through Apple's App Store. Apple processes payment; we never receive your payment details. Kalpa checks purchase access on your device and has no purchase server. Restoring brings back access for the Apple Account that bought it; it does not transfer plans or notes.
Notifications
Daily and plan reminders are scheduled by iOS on your device. Their text never includes your name, a plan's title or notes, a city or calculated times. A plan reminder carries only a random internal identifier, so Kalpa can open the right plan.
Sharing
When you tap Share day, you choose where it goes. The text includes the city name, date, time zone and calculated times, but not GPS coordinates. The app or service you share with handles it from there.
What we receive
Kalpa sends no data to Aftershock Labs. Separately, if you have turned on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings, Apple may share crash data and usage statistics with developers, including us.
Your choices
- Change your city in the place picker; the old place is replaced.
- Clear your name in Profile.
- Delete a plan in Planner to remove its notes and reminder.
- Turn off the daily reminder in Profile → Daily reminder.
- Change location and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
- Deleting Kalpa removes its data from the device, except copies in your backups.
Children
Kalpa collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
